‘Lake’ is the cinematic new single from McKowski, the alter-ego of Mark McCausland, one half of The Lost Brothers. The sparsely entwined acoustic guitars and keyboards create a sinister atmosphere at the bottom of the texture, leaving space for haunting cello lines and flickering, dark slide guitar work to push through. “This track is inspired by an old black and white horror movie from 1961 called The Innocents, particularly the scene with the lady by the lake, also mixed with a little bit of Elephant Man carnival atmosphere for good measure,” he explains on the track’s background. His debut solo album, Notes From The Boneyard, is a ten-track album of atmospheric folk and unique soundscapes that drops later this year. -Dan Peeke
